Interested in building resilient, productive landscapes and communities?

Have a few hours a week to spend developing a learning community with like minded locals?
January 2015 will see a unique opportunity come to fruition for Bouddi communities. Local permaculture trainers Paula and Ian Paananen will be teaming up with leading international trainer Rowe Morrow to offer a permaculture training specific to the Bouddi coastal bioregion.
Participants from over 100 countries in all regions of the world and from all walks of life have called the permaculture design course "life-changing, transformative, and enormously affirming." In the lively company of a diverse group of engaged and motivated women and men with a common interest in the future of humanity, learning is rapid, multidimensional, and long-lasting
Gardeners, farmers, homeowners and prospective buyers of land and homes will benefit from the energy-saving and productive insights of permaculture, while students and professionals in the fields of ecology, agronomy, resource management, architecture, and planning will find their work enlivened by the holistic and interdisciplinary perspective of the course. Community development and aid workers, council workers and community leaders will find practical and creative applications for permaculture design in their respective fields of endeavor.
Course Syllabus Includes:
The Permaculture Design Certificate course is an internationally-recognized, seventy-two hour course resulting in a Permaculture Design Certificate. A learning community will be established through sessions run locally and on a part time basis. To express interest, please email Paula at hort4health@optusnet.com.au or phone 0421 991 730.
All proceeds of the course will benefit the ‘One Passionfruit Project’ - sharing knowledge to improve food security in impoverished communities (onepassionfruit.org)

Information display at MacMasters Beach

A recent information display at MacMasters beach showed locals and visitors what One Passionfruit project is about.
Of most interest were the photos of Kasenyi villagers Sarah and Mastula's gardens before and after applying the techniques Ian & Paula had taught them.
They could then see that the the next target, Nsazi island is worthwhile attempting and likely to be viable.
Thanks to all who made a cash donation on the day, which go towards training material and on-ground transport in Uganda.

Angus Stewart of Gardening Australia helps promote One Passionfruit Project

Angus is a friend of Paula & Ian and thinks One Passionfruit Project is a great idea. His presentation at the Information Night on 12 Jan provided great tips on propagating local native plants - useful information for gardeners and bush regenerators.
The night raised $1307 for the next project in Uganda, to provide training materials, food and clean water for students and better and safer transport.
Thanks to
- Angus Stewart of ABC Gardening Australia who provided lots of valauble tips on propagating local native plants.
